Bursary

One of the purposes of Kamloops GALA is to provide educational resources for and about gays/lesbians.  To that end, we have purchased over $5,000 worth of books in the last few years.

Most of the books have gone to the Kamloops Public Library main branch and the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Library.  We have also donated a bundle of basic books to the high schools in Kamloops.

Kamloops GALA has funded an endowment of $20,000 at the TRU for annual Bursaries.  The value of the bursary depends on the current interest rates. First preference is given to gay/lesbian students attending TRU who are involved with Kamloops GALA and/or the gay/lesbian community on a volunteer basis. Second preference is given to the children of gay/lesbian parents who are involved with the above. Their children must be attending TRU.
